Architectural Style: Queen Anne Victorian with Italianate Influence

This home combines elements from both Queen Anne Victorian and Italianate architectural styles.

Queen Anne Victorian Features

  • Steep gable roof with multiple slopes and ridges: The house features a steep gable roof with multiple slopes and ridges, a hallmark of Queen Anne Victorian architecture.
  • Asymmetrical facade: The house has an asymmetrical facade, with a variety of shapes and sizes of windows, doors, and projections. This asymmetry is another characteristic feature of Queen Anne Victorian homes.
  • Turret (possible): There appears to be a round turret on the right side of the house, which is a distinctive feature of Queen Anne Victorian architecture. Turrets can be round, square, or octagonal, and they often have conical or pyramidal roofs.
  • Decorative details (potentially): Queen Anne Victorian homes are known for their elaborate ornamentation, such as spindlework in the gables, stained glass windows, and molding around the windows and doors. While ornamentation is not entirely visible in the image you sent, the curved arch window on the left side and the bracketed eaves (see Italianate features below) are possible indications of such details.

Italianate Influence

  • Low-pitched hip roof (likely): The main part of the house appears to have a low-pitched hip roof, which is more common in Italianate architecture than Queen Anne Victorian. Hip roofs have four sloping sides that meet at a point at the top.
  • Bracketed eaves (possibly): The eaves may have brackets underneath, which is a common feature in Italianate homes. It's difficult to say for sure from the image.
  • Round arch window (visible): The window on the left side of the house has a round arch, a common feature in Italianate architecture.

Overall, the steep gable roof (possibly with a turret), asymmetrical facade, and potential for decorative details are all strong indicators that the house is a Queen Anne Victorian style home. However, the low-pitched hip roof (likely), bracketed eaves (possible), and round arch window all suggest some Italianate influence as well.
