Log Home Plans, Floor Plans, & Designs
What images spring to mind when you think of a log house plan? A little cottage blanketed in snow with smoke emanating from its chimney? How about a luxurious, lodge-like rustic getaway overlooking a tranquil lake?
Log Home Plans, Floor Plans, & Designs
Whatever you have in mind, we are certain to have the ideal log cabin home design for you. Modern log house designs are created in a variety of forms, using logs as the principal structural element. Unusual angles and intricate shapes are difficult and costly to produce; therefore, gable roofs and rectilinear forms are prevalent. Simple or opulent outdoor living spaces are also often seen in log house floor designs.
The Homestead Act of 1862, which granted homesteaders rights to undeveloped property but forced them to cultivate it and erect buildings at least ten by twelve feet in size with at least one glass window, affected the creation of early log cabin layouts in the United States. Today’s log house plans come in a wide range of architectural styles, from houses with real log walls to ones that just use logs for looks.
